No Touching

You know when you are at a function or work and people you don't know that well hug to say good bye? Its usually awkward and uncomfortable. Handshake are acceptable, a wave is even better, but please no kiss on the cheek or hug unless were close. I don't want to lean in there and play kiss on the cheek so please stop.

Politicin: Heath Bill

I thought everyone was supposed to be different and unique. Different skin, different talents, different lifestyles. Everyone should be treated equally though, right? Heads nod, yes. Well then explain to me why there is a nearly unanimous chorus to over tax the wealthy. In almost every major government program the rich are taxed unfairly. Cries come out, "they have enough money, make them pay for it." These are the same people where when you take them out to dinner they order the lobster and expect you to pay the bill. I say fuck you. Work you piece of shit. Life is not fair but you deal with it. Some people are born with a silver spoon in their mouth, others scratch and claw to get by but you know what, you play the hand you were dealt.
This health care bill is an insult to the people that work for a living and do all the right things. They most likely are already insured. They don't need their taxes to rise in order to insure the unemployed or the woefully employed. If they want to help out they will, but do not force their hand. So, Obama I have tried to support you but consider this my official disapproval of your presidency. You continue to forget about people who make this country go and have forged a greater path for people to exploit America.

Best Christmas Movie Lines

Bad Santa- That chick from Gilmore Girls who is attractive enough to get you going when she is banging Billy Bob Thorton in the car and says "Fuck me Santa, Fuck me Santa"

Home Alone (Favorite Christmas Movie) - Buzz, your girlfriend...Woof.
"FULLER! Easy on the Pepsi!" Fuller looks at the camera, smiles, and raises his eyebrows as if to say, I am going to wet the bed tonight, and it's gonna be awesome.

"Tell you what. I'm gonna give you to the count of 10 to get your lying, yella', no-good keister off my property before I pump your guts full of lead."

It's a Wonderful Life- "No man is a failure who has friends"

Christmas Vacation-"hey Griswold! where the hell do you think your going to put that Christmas tree?"
"why don't you bend over and ill show ya"
"you cant talk to me like that"
"i wasn't talking to you, i was talking to her"

Clark: [Finally revealing his Christmas Bonus] It's a membership to the Jelly of the Month Club.
Eddie: [Overwhelmed, almost choking on his eggnog] Clark, that's the gift that keeps on giving throughout the entire year.

Bond Bonus: The World is Not Enough: I thought Christmas came only once a year

For the record the movie Elf sucks and is a movie I wanted to walk out on. It sucks. A Christmas story is very average and I am tempted to say it blows. The kid in the movie comes off a pussy with the narrator. It's eh.

Things I should probably do: Gold

The plan: Mine for Gold. Let's hitch a ride on the caravan and mine for Gold. Maybe we go out west, maybe we go to Ghana. I am not sure by there is Gold somewhere. Let's do like it's 1848 in Cali. With the U.S. dollar plummeting, Gold is rising. It has been steadily rising to over $1000 an ounce. I suggest a camp out to see parts of the world you would not ordinarily see, but remember to pack your rifle because you can't trust anyone.
Anyone want to try to get rich quick and have a life experience all at once?

When it's Never Good Enough

"I don’t know what possesses some people to constantly seek the rainbow’s end, even as they stand bestride their pot of gold." That little gem was found in this article. http://news.cincinnati.com/article/20091210/COL03/312100086/1007/SPT/Doc++Lousy+last+chapter+for+Kelly++UC

And while it releates to Brian Kelly, I am going to spin it.

You see I can relate to this comment. I am someone who is rarely satisfied. This is both a positive and negative thing. My inability to relax and bask in glory forces me to push forward. I seek bigger and better things always. I am fresh out of college and have a job, yet that job is not good enough. The pay is good but it could be better, the hours are reasonable, but my commute is often rough. Girls I meet are seemingly filled with flaws. I am climbing the ladder but I am not sure where the top is and how high I have to climb.

I am sure some people can relate to this inability to relax and bask in the glory. We always want more than what we have but it's not greed. It's not manifest destiny. We are willing to put in the work to earn it and it's because of this we will succeed even when we "fail" because for us it's never quite good enough. So you see even though we struggle within, we are better off for it.

Christmas List

In the alternate universe called extremely wealthy I present my Christmas wish list.

A League One side from England (Two promotions from Premiership) to own and build into a Premiership Side. The team would have a strong and loyal fan base dying to play in the top flight. The Stadium would hold around 30,000 fans. Leeds United comes to mind. Owning a soccer team in England would be tits.

Cost: $8-10 million very roughly up front. Much investing would have to be done further down the line. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Leeds_United_A.F.C.

De Lorean DMC-12- Remember Back to the Future. This is the car. Yes I would drive that.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/DeLorean_DMC-12

Cost: 20-30K for used car. They have been making updated versions of these and are charging 60-70 K.

Apartment in Old City Philadelphia, Vegas. - It has to be a baller place to crash on any given night.
Cost: $1 million

My Own Cable Station to Compete with Comcast- They are the devil, they don't care a lick about their customers, they have a monopoly. I would love to a least dent them locally by providing customers with access to any channel they desire even if it cost them extra.

Cost: Infinite amount. Hopefully something dooms this company one day.

In Which We are Worlds Apart

It is my belief through experience that girls are determined to get married and preferably sooner rather than later. Guys play defense and would prefer to get married later if at all. Shocking stuff I know, but dammit my title rules, so read on.

Girls want a beautiful wedding and a dress that is so stunning that everyone in the room's jaw drops. She wants her friends to be jealous of her husband. She wants to start a family and raise kids. STOP.

Guy: Whoa! we just met.

Girl: So it's ok to just sleep with me but it's not ok for me to think about us long term

Guys want to play the field a little bit. Once he gets a taste of some action he wants more. Don't try to hold em back from having his fun, it will only end up hurting you in the end.
Women have in engraved in them since they were young about getting married and having a family. Maybe you can blame society, maybe you can't. One thing however is pretty common and ends up bringing things together more than pushing them apart. Kids. Generally, both sides want them at some point even if the guys aren't crazy about marriage.

5 for Championship Weekend

22-22-1 on the season

Thursday
Oregon State @ Oregon(-10) 9 PM ESPN. Your guess is as good as mine as far as the line. Me thinks lots of points will increase the chances of covering.

Saturday
Cincinatti (-1) @ Pitt Noon ABC. This should be a good one with the Big East title on the line.

Florida vs Alabama (+5) 4 PM CBS in Atlanta. The play in game that has been hyped for some time but nothing like the 2006 1 vs.2 matchup. I think Bama at least covers in a dog fight.

Nebraska(+14) vs Texas 8PM ABC New Cowboys Stadium. I have been riding Nebraska's defense when determining where to lay the points.

Georiga Tech(-1) vs. Clemson 8PM ESPN in an empty stadium in Tampa.

They Travel in Packs too

Guys spend most days wondering how am I going to get laid. Most girls think about a new boyfriend. Friday night rolls around and you know what you are looking for. When you hit the bar/club you need a stable and attractive group of friends with you. You know how their always seems to that hot sorority or the the group of hot girls at the bar/club. They are not magically friends, they know what they are doing. They are stacking the deck to attract the opposite sex. Few people will go out and bring Becky the 250 lb linebacker for the Eagles with them because it decreases their chances of attracting the opposite sex. Sure Becky is a great person, but shes not help to you at last call.

Guys are a little slower to realize this fact, but they know when they require dudes that do work. You can't bring your friends that lack experience into a big spot because it ruins everyones chance.

5 for the weekend

20-19-1 on the season. Here is 5 for friday/saturday games
Friday
Alabama @ Auburn(+11.5) 2:30 CBS. Same as last week. Take the home team dog. It's messed up but Bama does't need this game one bit to go to the National Title game.

Pitt (-2) @ West Fucking Vrigina 7 ESPN2 Eh, I feel Bill Stewart is that bad of a coach to never bet on him.
Saturday
Clemson @ South Carolina (+3) 12 ESPN. I think South Carolina wins outright.

Oklahoma State(+10) @ Oklahoma 12:30 FSN. Bedlam. Don't be totally fooled by the line. Oklahoma State looks set on playing Zach Robinson despite him being less than healthy, still I'll take the points here.

Georgia @ Georgia Tech(-7.5) 8 ABC. I think Tech makes it two in a row.

Fighting = SEX

"I think the laws concerning fighting should be similar to those regarding sex. If two consenting adults want to duke it out, why should it be a crime? Stupid, yes: criminal, no."

This point was brought to my attention earlier and it falls in line with my opinions of fights. If two people want to throw down to blow off some steam they should be allowed to. The cops can watch because everyone enjoys a good scrap. When the fight becomes out of hand then you can intervene. Fights are dangerous, but they are usually no reason for someone to go to jail. If there are willing participants in fights or sex, no one should go to jail.

There should be no " I regret doing that so I'll press charges" This can apply to someone who just got their ass whopped in a fight or a woman who got so drunk that she slept with an ugly dude. People make mistakes, it's life. Learn from them and move on.

1..2..

Rich Rodriguez and the Michigan program are down on the mat right now. They are facing an impending count of 3 by the fans and the decision makers. I'm am not sure if things are going to be all right. I still believe, but this thing is in doubt. This off season will be be tougher than the last two, even though that doesn't seem possible. There is plenty to build upon as many youthful players return. The main stream media, the bandwagon fans, and a rouge faction in athletic department have called for our fearless leaders head. Will someone tell them that we don't want to end up like Notre Dame. We don't want to be waiting to return to glory for 16 years and counting. We don't want to be jumping from coach to coach and condeming the program to constant rebuilding phases. (This is not meant to mean that Davie or Willingham should not have been fired but rather that if Michigan fires Rich Rod they will have to rebuild agian) In 2010, Rodriguez will have Michigan off the mat and hulking up into a super power or he will have been pinned. I think he gets up and all he needs next year is a winning record. 7-6 buys him another year and a chance to make a big splash in 2011. He's been underseige since he's been hired and will be for the next two years most likely. It is at this time that the jury will likely come to a decision.

5 for Saturday

17-17-1 on the season.

Ohio State @ Michigan(+12.5) Noon ABC. My heart's in this one. I am finally attending my first "The Game". Beware of a desperate football team.

LSU @ Ole Miss(-4) 3:30 CBS. I am not sold on LSU and I haven't been all year. Perhaps Ole Miss is hitting their stride.

Cal @ Stanford (-7) 7:30 Versus. This should be a good one but lets stick with the horse that beat USC.

Kansas State(+16) @ Nebraska 7:45 ESPN. Kansas State should be able to keep it close because Nebraska isn't going to dominate offensively.

Oregon @ Arizona(+6) 8 ABC. I kinda think Oregon will win, so I'll go the other way and hope Zona can at least cover.

Show and Blow

While the title might indicate something that sounds like a sexual encounter, it is the name of a policy at Wisconsin. See when you live in Madison, Wisconsin, you drink alot. Students were showing up to the football games heavily intoxicated. Huh, I'm stunned. Anyways the university got tired of it and began throwing the heavily intoxicated out, only to see them come back shit faced again next week. The school then made it a policy to have those who were thrown out of a game once in the season to show their ticket, and blow into a breathalyzer. So "Show and Blow" isn't as fun as it sounds.

Friday, November 13, 2009

5 for Saturday

3-2 Last Week gets me back on track. 14-15-1 for the season.

Iowa @ Ohio State (-16.5) 3:30 ABC. Have the wheels come off without Stanzi?

Miami @ North Carolina (+3.5) 3:30 ESPN. Butch Davis owns his former team.

Stanford(+11) @ USC 3:30 FSN. I'm going against the public here.

Utah(+19.5) @ TCU 7:30 CSTV. Maybe Utah can keep it close.

Notre Dame(+7) @ Pitt 8 ABC. Charlie your job is likely on the line.

Dropping the Knowledge: Watershed Event

It's a breakthrough moment that changes the current path you are on. It is most likely a reference to Moses parting the Red Sea. A watershed event is finally getting with that hot sorority girl and then you go on to do work that would make a pimp proud. It's a spark that ignites into a fire. Can you think of a watershed moment that you have had?

5 for Saturday

Ok, well I shit the bed last weekend. 0-5 brings me to 11-13-1 on the year.

LSU @ Bama (-9) 3:30 CBS. I'm not sure if Bama can score enough but I'm not to impressed with LSU this year.

OSU @ Penn State (-3.5) 3:30 ABC. First of all it's downright shocking that this is not a night game. I think Penn State has the better offense and will win so I'll take them to cover.

Oregon @ Stanford (+5.5) 3:30 FSN. Let down?

FSU (+8.5) @ Clemson 7:45 ESPN With Andrews announcing his retirement effective at year's end, I'm betting that he performs better as DC for the rest of the year.

Oklahoma @ Nebraska (+6) I think Oklahoma will win but I'm going to the game with a Nebraska fan so I'll take the Huskers here. I'll have a full report on the game next week in this space.

The Commuter State

You like it for everything its not. New Jersey does not seem over crowded despite being the most populous state per square mile. It is not congested like New York City or Philadelphia.

No one says lets go visit New Jersey, but to you its a great location. You can regularly visit all the places you like, but couldn't stand to live in. New Jersey is a hotbed to reside in the vibrant northeast. So while New Jersey is hated on constantly, people need to respect it for what it is.

Drug Free, Not The Way To Be

This is a continuation of Book of Revelations. So scroll down and read that first, or don't. Fine, be that way.

My stubbornness and steadfast approach to do the right thing has stunted my growth. I was a little crazy in high school. Lightubes were my favorite toy. I was relatively unable to talk to girls. Football was my social life. I busted my ass to survive at Eustace in the classroom. By all accounts I was a damn good kid but you were a little afraid of me.

I did not give in to the popular thing to do, and I still don't. I have never smoked weed or cigarettes or did any drugs. However, I'm willing to admit that after all these years I was wrong about alcohol. I was never drunk until my 21st birthday. Drinking has allowed me to evolve my social life. I'm more open to trying new things or doing things that I wouldn't normally do.

As a 20 year old I was more hard working and focused than many 30 year olds. I wasn't very happy though. Drinking has allowed me live out the high school and college years that I failed to experience. I was trying to push forward without experiencing my sophomoric life. I was mature and I still am but I am playing catch up for the the fun that I missed out on. I need to get the drinking out of my system before I can move on.

In the college article that precedes this post I was going to say that I should have went to a random school such as TCU or Clemson and I would have had more fun. I do not really believe that I would have survived without playing a sport or joining a fraternity. La Salle allowed me to stay in touch with high school friends. Its up for debate whether or not I needed the training wheels. If I would have been willing to drink at this age perhaps I would have fallen in line with a decent group of friends and had more fun in college. This would have allowed for me to go to that random school and ultimately have fun. I wasn't ready though. I would have struggled in a foreign place without a solid group of friends.

I was more open and met many new people when I went out my senior year of college. I gave it my best effort and things didn't turn out perfect, but it was the best time I had in college. I won't talk to too many people from college because I didn't have as many true friends as high school but here's a toast to peer pressure. Drink up.

Book of Revelations

Think back 5 years or so. You are deciding where to go to college? What is factoring into your decision?
I was unmotivated in my search for a college. There was only one that I wanted to go to and it was a longshot. My backup plan was Seton Hall and it was the only school that I demonstrated any kind of emotion when I was accepted into. I applied and was accepted into Hofstra, Drexel, La Salle, Sacred Heart, and the University of New Haven. To be truthful I didn't really give a damn about any of them. The one school that rejected was the University of Michigan. Generally I was excited about college because you always heard how great it was. I just didn't want to go anywhere other than Michigan.
Criteria for Decision?
I knew that a school with smaller class sizes would suit me
Good Business School
Closer location
Some type of quality football or basketball team

I felt a general apathy towards going to attending a college away from home and not knowing anyone. This in hindsight was a mistake but more on that later. I decided not to play football and pick up pro wrestling. I decided that living in a city was probably a good idea. I wanted to know my roommate and I wanted to be close to my girlfriend. This made La Salle a decent fit. I was happy to learn that I could have a car on campus and live in the city. Seton Hall had me in fear of being trapped on campus. I was also concerned about the environment at basketball games because of the distance from campus.

Part of me wishes that I played football. At the time I was satisfied with trying a new activity and watching and attending Michigan Football games. It's frustrating knowing that I can't go back and play now because you can bet your ass I can still contribute. Living in the city of Philadelphia was a vastly better decision than living in the Newark area. However the campus life may have been superior at Seton Hall. I was glad to be hanging around Philadelphia area people as opposed to New York area people. I am glad to be working in the Philadelphia area as opposed to the New York area.

Going to a school without knowing anyone has its advantages if you can make it through the rough start. As I have begun writing this paragraph I am realizing that I probably would not have survived at many other schools. To be continued...

Where the Real Action Is

Many People over react in the stock market, just like many other things in life. In the stock market though, their nest eggs and life savings are at risk. There are many kneejerk reactions. 3rd Quarter Earnings were worst than expected the stock falls and probably harder than it should. Buy when you think its at the bottom and watch it go up tomorrow morning.

If you are new to the stock market I would suggest picking a few stocks and just watch their movements throughout the day. Some stocks are traded in high volume and their price fluctuates a great deal throughout the day. It is interesting to see some patterns develop.

1.The game is a full go from 9:30-4 M-F. If your down you can still come back. A loss of $200 in one week can be a gain of $200 the next week.
2.Your odds are better. Just like in regular gambling at a casino or your bookie you have to lay odds. The odds you lay are on the trade commissions. This is about $20 for the purchase and sale of stock. The difference here is that your not -110. You can buy $500 worth of stock of $5,000 and your still in for $20.
3. It's legal gambling but you have to pay taxes on winnings.

Easy Rules to follow.
1.Buy in multiples of 100. Example 100 shares, 200 shares, not 151 shares because its what you can afford. This is because it can be difficult to dump these shares into the open market.
2. Do not reinvest dividends. This would use the money you have earned on dividends to buy more shares of stock. Keep your profits.
3. Have a minimum of $3000 to invest.
4. Do not buy or sell when Market is closed. You never know what the market is going to open the stock price at. You can end up paying much more than you anticipated, or receiving less than you expect for the sale.

Which Discount Broker is right for you?

If you are new to the game I would suggest TD Ameritrade. Great promotion right now. If you deposit $2,000, you get free trades for a month. If you deposit $25,000, you get free trades for a month and $100. TD Ameritrade has no hidden fees and is $9.99 per trade. Their user interface is superior to sharebuilder and that's why it gets the nod here.
-ETrade has hidden fees that you have no business paying. Avoid it at all costs.
-Sharebuilder is good- 9.95 per trade. Automatic Investing is available for $4.- This involves choosing a stock and purchasing a few shares at a time. This could be an advantage if this interests you.
Scottrade is $7.99 per trade but I'm not sure what the deal is. I hear good things though.

Manayunk: Write it in stone

I have no idea how things are going to shake out. To relocate, things are going to have to shape up nicely. The plan for Manayunk is March. The expected added cost to me is $9,000 per year.

This would include rent, food, gym membership, parking, cable, internet, and other general expenses.
I have heard that there are places you can park you car and pay a monthly rate of around $40. This seems reasonable to me depending on how close it is to where you live. Living in a housing community has been discussed and after speaking with people who live in Manayunk I feel it is probably best to get an individual house.

Rules/Requirements for Manayunk
1.House must be within walking distance of the bars- This is for several reasons. You don't wanna to worry about driving, parking, or taking a cab. The Bars are close to 76. This is important for work related issues. It makes it easier to bring someone back.
2.People I live with must be willing and able to go out. You have to be able to go out and talk to girls. Don't hurt the team. Also you should be able to just hang out and chill at the bar on some nights.
3. Ideally there are no more than 3 housemates. 3 is more than I would like but its the norm, and it's ideal for payments.
4.Gym- I could do the gym thing and running thing on my own but ideally someone would want to go to the gym and be active.
5.The place is liveable and an upgrade from college. It is a place you could bring a girlfriend and a parent and not have them say this place is gross.
6.Girlfriends do not live in the house. This would be bad for everyone. An occasional stay is welcomed but you don't pay rent so get the fuck out. Also don't turn your back on your housemates if you have a girl.
7. Be willing to leave Manayunk for Old City, Rittenhouse square or wherever on any given weekend night.

The plan: I'm selective in who I would want to live with and right now I plan on living in the house for just a year because I feel I would outgrow the situation after that. I'm am willing and able to drop the cash at the drop of the hat. As you might expect, this plan is in stone, until tomorrow.
What can change: I could change jobs, no longer making Manayunk a desirable place to live. I could get a girlfriend and Manayunk would not seem so important.

5 Picks for Saturday

3-2 Last Week. 11-8-1 on the season.

Florida @ Georgia(+16) 3:30 CBS. Well Florida has been unimpressive lately.

CMU(+4.5) @ BC 3:30 ESPN U. I'll take the Chippewas.

South Carolina (+5.5) @ Tennessee 7:45 ESPN. This is an intriging matchup that will likely have alot of turnovers. Two great defenses and two subpar offenses.

USC(-3.5) @ Oregon 8 ABC/ESPN 2. History is on my side.

Texas @ Oklahoma State(+9) 8 ABC/ESPN 2.

World Heavyweight Championship of College Football

First of all not my research or idea but very interesting. What if the world of college football played to a title belt that transferred hands in each defeat. A draw results in a retain and the belt is dated back to the first title game. Here is what it looks like.

Don't Call it a Bucket List: Sporting Events and Venues

Anfield- Liverpool FC has been playing on the ground since 1892 and has been rumored to be winding down its tenure as the home of the Reds. Located in Liverpool, England, it is a financial commitment to go there. I am trying to coincide it with trips to other venues as well. If you are making a trip like this you want it to be perfect. Maybe a Champions League game during the week and a Saturday afternoon at Anfield so you get two Liverpool games. Liverpool has a famous fan support section that leads the chants and songs. This is called the KOP("Cup"). This is because they eminate from The Kop stand. Sitting in the Kop end would be ideal for this trip. Tickets are challenging even with a fan membership and Capacity is just 45K. If this sounds like Fenway Park and Red Sox it should. The club has not won a league title since 1990 to add to the similarities.

Duke-North Carolina at Cameron Indoor. This rivalry has blown up with the ESPN hype machine starting in the early 90s. It is overrated but still a great show. I feel that the atmosphere at Cameron Indoor is better than at the Dean Dome but perhaps I am wrong. Tickets at the Dean Dome would be significantly cheaper due to being more than twice as large as Cameron. Tickets would be significantly priced at either venue and I would prefer to sit as close to the students without being inside the student section as possible.

World Cup- To go and cheer for the USA would be unreal. If attending this event I would like to be in a fun country. South Africa 2010 doesn't get the job done for me. Tickets are gettable, time off work, probably not.

USA Soccer vs Mexico at Estadio Azteca. In the heart of Mexico City lies this 105K stadium filled with insane Mexican fans. They throw bags of urine on Americans. They racially taunt, they have voodoo dolls and hang players in effugy (spelling?). It sounds like the 700 level at the Vet, only worse. I want to go in there feeling all the hate and come away with the first U.S. victory in the stadium. Ticket packages are available from USsoccer.com.

SEC Saturday- Truth is there are numerous stadiums I could put on the list. The trouble with going to many college campuses is that they are hard to get to. Usually not real conducive to reaching from a major airport. The goal is to go to major stadium for a major game and as many as possible. This is not just limited to the SEC but it would take care of an experience I have not yet had.

Texas High School football Friday night then Texas A&M the following day. Why A&M? I just feel that it is the best venue in the state with the best fans. They have the bonfire on Friday night and yelling practice. Huge ROTC program adds to tradition of 12th man.

Rupp Arena- Kentucky Basketball is a religion. Can you Imagine when Pitino comes to town on Jan. 2 this year what that place is going to be like.

Feel free to add to the list because I'm sure I am forgetting something.
Side note: Events where I could easily find Michigan were not considered because I plan on doing them anyways. ex. Assembly Hall (Indiana University) and Notre Dame Stadium.

Is it ok to look?

Match.com uses the catch phrase "Its ok to look." Is there really anything for a 22 year to find? Probably not, but that does not mean it wouldn't be interesting. It could be potentially interesting for a fling. JDate.com is potentially interesting candidate because their seems to be some level of communication that is allowed for free. It could make for a good test run. Jdate is primarily for Jewish singles but it is used by other religions as well.
I think the general perception people have is that online dating is desperate and often last resort. I would guess that the average user is 26 or 27 and not that attractive. However I believe that in the social networking age more people are turning to these dating sites sooner. It may be an avenue to just meet new people and mess around. Has any reader made the leap or thought about making the leap?

Why Can't I Lift

It is so hard to stay committed to lifting when your numbers are falling, you have nothing to play for, and your kinda depressed. This is my battle when I come home from work everyday. I throw on some music, turn on the TV to distract myself from the uselessness of what I am doing. The spark is not there. I stall and take frequent breaks and take twice as long to do a normal workout. I have tried to mix up my workout a great deal in order to find new motivation and to some degree this has helped. However the intensity that is required to really lift has been missing. Part of the reason for this is because their is no other activity to play for. There is no football, no wrestling, no delusions of granduer. Where do I find the passion to continue?
A few suggestions
-Start running more- train for a marathon. This would at least accomplish some fitness goals.
-Join a gym- I have been so good at self motivating for 3 years but it appears that I need some help now. Getting there and getting home may motivate me to get the work done quicker.
-Start sparring- MMA, boxing, something for fun.

5 for Saturday

2-2-1 last week bring me to 8-6-1 on the year.

Oregon (-7) @ Washington 3:30 ESPN Gameplan, ABC Regional. I'll take Oregon here because they have been playing well since the opener.

Penn State @ Michigan (+4.5) 3:30 ABC. Last time Michigan was a home dog they won (ND +4). I expect them to have a chance to win it at the end.

TCU(-1) @ BYU 7:30 Versus. I 'll take TCU to win straight up here.

Oregon State @ USC (-20.5) 8 ABC regional. Oregon State has beaten USC the last two times at home. Too bad this one is in SoCal.

Texas (-13.5) @ Missouri 8 ABC regional. Texas can win by two touchdowns even on the road.

Don't Call it a Bucket List: Skydiving

Skydiving is not for the timid. Whose to say what you will do when your actually up in the sky? After doing some research it appears that it is illegally to skydive alone on your first time. It seems to cost about $200 but does it really count as skydiving if it's done in NJ. Anyways here is the NJ option
http://crosskeysskydiving.com/tandem_new_jersey.php
I think in order to do this right it must be done where there are mountains and at a reasonably high altitude but maybe this wouldn't be so bad. Anyone want in?

You Won't You Won't

When your at the office your mind wonders and you imagine all the cooler things you could be doing. Except you rarely ever try to do them. Well here is one of mine in what I hope will become a series until I finally find one I actually do.

Move to Vegas-
Property values are still falling and will continue to do so. A ton of new construction with vancancies makes this place a buyer's market.

The Plan-
Move to Vegas with a few friends and buy a four bedroom house. Start an adult website and work the clubs with your friends to amass talent. You and your friends act in and direct your own films. At least one person has a real job that will enable you to pay the mortgage. Maybe another one of your friends works at a nightclub to not only pay the bills but also to recruit. Another friend goes on talent auditions and is there to help aspiring but poor actresses to pay the bills. Ideally you have another guy who is crafty on the web. He would design and run the website. He's good with cameras and audio and can plug into the industry. He can generate ad revenue as well. Essentially the 4th person is addicted to the product. Preferably you are doing some type of reality series that is at least somewhat unique to the market.

The Pitfalls
-Well I would imagine that people have thought of and tried plans similar to this
-Alot of cash upfront to launch the product
-This is likely a short term career
-This business is probably as seedy as it gets
-Getting sucked into Vegas lifestyle

Verdict
I think its conceivable that this could work. At the very least you could try it for two years and see how things develop. The real jobs will be key to paying the bills, as long as they are held you can survive. How much money can be made? I'm really not sure. I imagine that you could make a decent income that could add to your pockets but not survive soley on the industry. At the end of the day could you really look at yourself in the mirror doing this? Probably not, but at least you would get some hot tail. Remember kids, it's not paying for it if it's done on camera.

5 Picks for Saturday

Wow 4-1 last week. 6-4 on the year. Here's 5 for Saturday.

Oklahoma vs. Texas. Noon ABC. Game is at the Cotton Bowl in Dallas and how badly would I like to be there. Texas is favored by 3 and I will take them to win. History would suggest the game won't be wire to wire but the tough thing to do is pick the winner.

Iowa @ Wisconsin(-1) Noon ESPN. I will take Wisconsin to win at home and finally end the Iowa hype. It's a matter of time trust me.

USC @ ND(+11.5) 3:30 NBC. I can't believe I'm doing this but I think ND covers here. USC is not good enough offensively to destroy the ND defense.

Virgina Tech(-3) @ Georgia Tech 6 ESPN. I think VT wins here so I'll assume they cover.

South Carolina(+17) @ Bama 7:45 ESPN. I think South Carolina can cover the spread here because of their defense. It will be a question of how well SC takes care of the football.

Favorite WWE/WCW Wrestlers of my lifetime

This list does not take into account time spent in ECW of other organizations outside my lifetime. It focuses on how interesting their character was to me in the moment and looking back. Mid Card favorites like Hacksaw Jim Duggan are not on this list.

1.Hulk Hogan- Probably the reason I watch(ed) wrestling. Charisma is a term that gets thrown around alot in wrestling but no one had it more than Hulk Hogan. Andre the Giant at Wrestlemania III still gives me chills. "I am a Real American, fight for the rights of ever man," the lyrics in his music was exactly who he was. He challenged the all anti Americans and fought for the Hulkamaniacs. Everything about Hogan was awesome (except his in ring work) and I do not need to go into detail here.
2.Stone Cold Steve Austin- The captain of the "attitude" era. Stone Cold was one tough SOB. He did not give a shit about autority and fought with the boss. He managed to increase his popularity even when he was out with a neck injury. His heel turn at Wrestlemania 17 remains the turning point in his career and more importantly for the WWE. Stone Cold was never able to gain traction as a heel because he was so over with the fans. WWE was bringing in WCW and ECW Talent and screwed the whole thing up.
3.Sting- He was in WCW before the influx from WWF came and he was my favorite to watch. I remember him before the black and white days.
4.Shawn Michaels- One of the best entrance songs of all time. I remember when he turned on Marty Jennety. A flourishing singles career and the man who put the ladder match on the map. He was my favorite when Hulk Hogan left for WCW. He was founding member of DX and if not for back problems he would have stayed in the picture. His return at Summerslam 2002 (Street Fight with Triple H) was unreal and remains one of my favorite matches.
5.Triple H- Trips is high on the list because he has been around for so long. He has always been relevant because he has been able to go back and forth between heel and face. I prefer him as a heel and he played the role particularly well against Stone Cold and the Rock because he wasn't quite as popular as the two.
6. The Rock- The Rock is buried on this list for most people. However, at no point was he my favorite wrestler. I was a Stone Cold fan and at no point would I have called the Rock my favorite wrestler on the show. He was masterful on the mic and coined so many catch phrases. He could say something that was stupid and not funny and the crowd would still cheer. With the help of Stone Cold, the Rock was an effective heel as well.
7. Mankind/Cactus Jack/Mick Foley/Dude Love- Ok so obviously his work outside of WWF/WCW would bump him higher up the list. The guy can flat out take a bump. Everyone remembers the falls for the Hell in a Cell at King of the Ring 1998. He was the most hardcore person inside of the WWF. He came up from ECW and Japan and was watered down in the big leagues but still great. Working in the WWF forced him to expand his characters and if not for Stone Cold going down to injury he might never have touched the WWF Title.
8. Mr. Kennedy...Kennedy- I was kinda outta wresting when he debuted but I noticed him when I picked up a cheap copy of WWE Smackdown vs. Raw 2007. He is as good on the mic as the Rock but never got his push because he was repeatedly injured. He missed his push several times due to injuries and the WWE reluctance to push him because he was injury prone. Eventually he was released. Kennedy could have been a huge star but that won't happen in the WWE. It goes to show that timing is everything in the business.
9.Ahmed Johnson- I'll admit I stuck with the WWF when WCW had them on the ropes and for a time Ahmed Johnson was my favorite wrestler on the program. He was the first black wrestler to hold the Intercontinental Title and was poised for major push. He was set to challenge for the WWF Title but suffered legit kidney issues. By the time he recovered he was left playing second fiddle to Faarooq. Faarooq eventually gave way to the Rock and Ahmed Johnson was gone. Ahmed Johnson's timing was perfect when he came on to the scene. The WWF had lost a ton of its talent to WCW and if not for the medical issues he may have became a big star.
10. Undertaker- This pick was tough because any number of guys could be here. Edge was strongly considered but I'm just not a fan of his Rated R superstar gimmick (I will admit it is done really well, I just loved his old gimmick). DDP was an option as well. It's hard to go wrong with the Deadman. His character is so unique and he's been so big for so long. Remember when he grabbed the belt from Hogan in his prime at Survivor Series and lost it six days later at Tuesday in Texas. I'll admit I even enjoyed his American Badass gimmick because it gave the Deadman a much needed break. The undefeated at Wrestlemania has gotten a little old but you can't kill the magic there.

Movies with best replay value

These are movies that if you had just seen you would have no problem with watching again. They likely have alot of depth and they have aged well.

The Big Lewbowski- This movie is a classic. The first time I watched it, I didn't even like it all that much, but I found myself appreciating the characters over time. I can recall watching this movie 4 nights straight at one point.

Fight Club- Watched this movie on HBO after it first came out and thought it was wierd but good. In my college years I really began to appreciate the dialouge of this movie. This is another movie that I can throw on one week after another if Im so inclined.

Caddyshack- Always good for laughs. The movie was funny when I was a kid and it's funny now.

Clerks- You could put alot of Kevin Smith movies here because of the great dialouge. You often find yourself laughing at different parts of the movie because it has so much depth.

Terminator 2 Judgement Day- Great non stop action. The movie is entertaining enough to warrant watching just about everytime its on TV.

5 Picks for Saturday

Ok so I'm going to pick agianst the spread in 5 of the biggest games of the weekend. We will track the picks to see if I'm worth betting on.

mailto:Wisconsin@Minnesota -Noon ESPN. Minny is giving 1 here and I will take them. 27-24.

LSU @ Georgia- 3:30 ABC. Georgia is minus 2.5 and I will take them. Neither team has played well thus far. Georgia 30 LSU 24.

Washington @ Notre Dame 3:30 NBC. Notre Dame minus 13.5. Smart money says to Washington to cover here. Notre Dame 27 Washington 16.

USC @ Cal -8 ABC. Cal is getting 6.5. Cal is usually the chic pick to be USC but they never do. I'll go against the numbers here and take Cal outright.

Oklahoma @ Miami- 8 ABC. Miami is getting 7 at home here. It's embarrising that thousands of tickets still remain for this clash. I'll be rooting for the Canes to kill any hope of an OU title run. I'll take the Canes to cover.

5 Picks for Saturday

2-3 Last week confirms what I already knew. I can't pick multiple games. Anyways here is 5 more, maybe a pattern will emerge.

BC @ VT Noon syndication- Virgina Tech usually doesn't roll teams you expect them too. They are giving 13.5 here so I'll take BC

Bama @ Ole Miss 3:30 CBS- Bama is giving 6.5 but I'll take them.

Wisconsin @ Ohio State 3:30 ABC- Ohio State is giving 14 and I think that's a fair line. I'll take the Buckeyes at home.

Florida @ LSU 8 CBS- Florida is giving 7.5 here. I think Tebow plays and even if he doesn't the Gators get it done here.

Michigan @ Iowa 8 ABC- The pick is Michigan to expose Iowa. Iowa is laying 7.5 which is exactly what I expected the line to be.

Graduated, Now What?

Being 22 wasn't supposed to be like this. It's hard to believe that 17 years of schooling leads us to this point. All that hard work was finally going to pay off, things were going to be great. I thought my life was just beginning. My parents told me I could be anything I wanted. Thanks for lying to me Mom and Dad. I never dreamed I would be working for the government. I never wanted to be traveling to banks in the middle of nowhere and sit at a computer all day.

If you didn't get that dream job when you graduated out of college or don't even know what that might be for you, welcome. Welcome to about 98% of the population. If your lucky, you have a job, but it's probably not anything that satisfies you. Either your still living at home or your living on your own and struggling to make rent. Life isn't what you thought it would be right now. You are not who your parents said you would be. You are not that "special snowflake". It's a harsh reality right now. Your trying to figure out what you are supposed to do with your life because you want to change your situation. Part of you wants to go back to college where you left you had less responsibility and more fun. You had more friends around. You partied during the week and life was good. You probably didn't realize just how good.

Flash forward to the present. You are trying to maintain fading friendships, and struggling to make new ones. You work the bar scene to meet new girls, but it's not as easy as it was in college. "Hey you want to come hang out at my parent's house, it's a short trip over the bridge?" Yea life is a little frustrating right now. Your in between two phases of your life and your eager to see what is on the horizon. The wait is probably killing you.

I don't have all the answers because I'm still trying to figure it out to. I hold out hope that things will turn out ok. I'm confident that I will find a good place to live and have a good group of friends. Eventually, I will have a job that I kinda like and a girl that I'm crazy about. Here's to hoping we figure it out sooner rather than later. We're in this together.

This is a topic that will surely be revisited in the future but for now I encourage you to read something that has helped me. http://mgoblog.com/content/age-miracles I swear there is a profound message in between the sports and general awkwardness.

Favorite TV Shows Past and Present

Shows such as Eureka's Castle, Mr. Rodgers do not count because I cannot tell you much about them today and I can't say for sure if I really liked them or watched them. I also refuse to list them. Also there is no particular order to this.

Early Years Pre 3rd Grade or so
Pro Stars- http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/ProStars Looking back I did not realize there was a mere 13 episodes but it featured all my childhood hero's. Show was ridiculous. I remember Wayne for some reason loved hot dogs. Bo seemed to be the centerpiece and did almost all the crime fighting. Jordan was the leader because he was supposedly the smart one. Reading Wiki it sounds like a train wreck.

Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles- http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Teenage_Mutant_Ninja_Turtles_(1987_TV_series) The first run of course and still my favorite commercial kid's thing of all time. Fuck Barney, Power Rangers, and anything else from that era. This was where my alligence was and always will be. I owned the toys, played the video games religiously, and even owned several trading cards that came in the wax pack with gum. Liking sports gr owning up this was the only cartoon I had time for. For the record original TMNT 193 episodes, Mighty Morphin Power Rangers 145 episodes.

Where in the World is Carmen Sandiago -http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Where_in_the_World_Is_Carmen_Sandiego%3F_(game_show) Great show. If I recall it was on at 5 on PBS. Doing research on Wiki I was suprised to learn that the show was created from the computer games and not the ohter way around. Anyways, I sure you were a gumshoe at some point in your childhood. If you had the computer games like I did they were fun but the original one was impossible. I played the game for a few hours like 5 years ago and I still don't know where that bitch is. "Where in time is Carmen Sandiego" was a rather lame spinoff but the computer game was arather enjoyable. I actually learned about history through it and it was fun to play.

Honorable Mention
Wild and Crazy Kids

Early Years Continued- 3rd Grade on or so to middle school
Rugrats-172 Episodes. I watched this until the first movie came out before I grew out of it. Not until around 5th or 6th Grade
American Gladiators- Great action from start to finish. I often staged the many games on there in my basement including the eliminator.
Double Dare- Simple questions for the most part and fun challenges. The obstacle course at the end was great too.
Nick Arcade- Do the video challenge strut. Video games were mostly trash. This show wasn't really all that great looking back but dammit I find myself repeating lines from Host Phil Moore and the Mikey character. Chances are Phil Moore is addicted to drugs right now.
Saved by the Bell-Several similar shows were launched after this show that need no introduction. USA High, City Guys, California Dreams just to name a few.

Honorable Mention-
Legends of the Hidden Temple- This show is boring when there is not a physical activity and even then it's only fun at the end.
GUTS- This show was somewhat lame even when I was young. I watched because it was sports related but the events were often dumb. Let's throw it down to Mo for the middle school category
Full House- I grew to hate this show but I'd be lying if I said I hadn't seen all the episodes

The winner of all these games was sure to great a trip Universal Studios Florida.

Middle School-
Boy Meets World- This show was watched earlier but I remember it being part of the routine after school. 158 episodes. Remember the one with Jim Abbot. Easily on the favorites list.
Note- There are several shows that you could grab from TGIF but this is the only one I really loved.
Recess- http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Recess_(TV_series) A very underrated show in my opinion. The last kid's cartoon I really watched I remember catching it on UPN after school before Boy Meets World. Great cast of characters but of course there is one black kid in the group and they make him the athlete. It's an extremely stereotypical show but you shouldn't care.
Early Edition- http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Early_Edition 90 episodes. Looking back this should is made for Lifetime network which would explain why I discovered it at Mrs.Young's house.

Shows you watched with your parents that you really did like-
Everybody loves Raymond- You miss sitcoms now don't you. I really can't watch this anymore though
Cheers-273 episodes damn.
Nash Bridges- My dad liked it and so did I when it had Stone Cold and hot girls.

High School- Present
South Park- This show has ruled since 6th grade. It has evolved with its audience.
Seinfeld- watched this show with my parents a few times but did not get into it until probably college.
Entourage- I didn't think I'd like this when it first dropped but Ari makes the show.
Arrested Development- Not discovered until college, it is probably that only show I can't fall asleep too. You need to actively pay attention or you will miss what is going on.
It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia- Hooray for active shows! Well after much Internet hype I decided to give this show a chance in season 4. The fact that it is in Philly makes it even better.

Honorable Mention
CSI- The original and surely the best. I was hooked for a whole season then I stopped watching due to lack of time.

I hoped you enjoyed the amount of grammar errors but I'm not editing.

Girlfriend Qualifications

Ok so I'm bored at work and was trying to figure some things out. When looking for a girlfriend it's important to find as many things as possible that you like. Everyone has a list of qualifications in there head. Some things are required for entry while others you can let slide. Ideally you want to find 8 out of 10 on your list. The first two are all but required.
1. Looks
This is number 1 because its the first thing you notice. It all starts here, there is no number 2 if this does not qualify.
2. Values
This is probably the most important thing to have. Similar values and beliefs are vital the further you advance in a relationship. You must share similar opinions and generally handle situations in reasonable way. Honesty,Loyalty, and many other things follow in here.
3. Real Job
I understand if your having some trouble with the economy but if your 25 and still working at the bar/club or the hair saloon don't look for me to foot the bill. You must have graduated and have a decent major. Housewives need not apply.
4. Fun
You have to be fun to hang out with and bring out the best in me. Willingness to be up for just about anything. Have me do things I wouldn't normally do. Desire to travel. Good chemistry is key here.
5. Friends and Family
Your family is preferably nice and together. Maybe your dad is a real sports fan and your not an only child. Friends are cool to hang out with and not stuck up. Hopefully they are cool enough to hang out with in a group.
6. Active
Bike Riding, Running, Yoga, whatever as long as you like doing something active. It's attractive if you are somewhat athletic. Laying around all day is boring
7.Sports
I wish this didn't have to be on the list but it does. You don't have to like sports but you must tolerate my fandom. Hopefully you find the athletic competition interesting but at the very least humor me from time to time. Hopefully you enjoy going to events be it sports or otherwise.
8. Independent
You do your own thing and can think for yourself. You don't get sucked into hype and trends. Generally speaking you don't do things solely because it's the popular thing to do. You hate Dave Matthews Band because you know they suck.
9. Bed
There should be little to no restrictions here. Preferably everything is in play.
10. Driven
Something motivates you. So passionate about something that you will work hard to acheive your goal. This can apply to alot of things and can simply seperate you from other people.
